Panama wins FCC and Odebrecht construction of the metro

The Government of Panama won yesterday Line 1 consortium, formed by construction FCC, Spain, and Odebrecht, Brazil, the construction of the first metro line in Panama with an offer of 1,446 million dollars (about 1,050 million euros ).

The Secretariat of the metro Panama announced in a press conference awarding the work to the Spanish-Brazilian consortium, after granting 917 points in the sum of the valuation of technical and financial bids submitted, compared to 708 achieved by the other candidate The Italian Group Metro Panama.

The financial offer by Line 1 was slightly higher at 1,401 million dollars (some 1,015 million) requested by the Italian group consisting Panama Metro Italian firms Impregilo, Astaldi and Ghella.

However, the Brazilian was able to offer Spanish-578 of the 650 possible points in the technical proposal, compared to the 358 points the Italians. ORFISA participated in its elaboration.

The decision by the Panamanian authorities came after a discussion behind closed doors for the space of about an hour.

The owner of the Metro Secretary, Robert Roy, told Efe that the winning consortium is now 38 months, until December 31, 2013, to complete the work.

Metro Line 1 will cover the north-south axis of the city and includes a total of 14 stations, covering an area of ​​14 kilometers, seven of them underground.

The building, with financial support from the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) and the Andean Development Confederation (CAF) seeks to alleviate the problem of public transportation in Panama.
