PROCUREMENT OF METRO NORTH.

Metro North will serve an 18 km corridor from Belinstown in the north to St. Stephen’s Green in the city centre via Dublin Airport.

Metro North is based on the German ‘Stadtbahn’ concept of a light rail system running within tunnels or on elevated sections in congested areas, and at grade in the suburbs with a greater capacity than normal tram based systems.

Metro North will run in a mix of bored and cut and cover running tunnels beneath the city centre and Dublin Airport, elsewhere Metro North will run on elevated structures or at-grade.
